About MSW (MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK)
Social work is a professional and welfare service. It is a process to help the individual and make them efficient. In scientific knowledge, skills & value and on this basis they can make a group solve their problems and fulfill the need of them. Basically the origin and the development of social-work had started in the western country of England and America. While in India from the ancient age, people worked for poor, deprived, ignored and backward class out of the feelings of kindness, pity, sympathy and donation. But to prepare or train the social workers with professionalism was started in India by the sir Dorabji Tata School of social work, Mumbai in 1936, Now in Gujarat and in India many Universities run MSW courses.
Admission is given according to the rules of the central admission committee in MSW . A candidate should have minimum of 45% in graduation then a candidate has to pass the entrance test and the personal interview and get his \her rank secured in the merit list. MSW is the full time course of 2 yrs. in the self finance college which is affiliated to the Bhavnagar University; twelve papers are to be studied during these two yrs. During the first years five theory papers and one field work and during the second year four theory paper one dissertation & one field work .
• In the first year three days a week field work in the surrounding of Bhavnagar city.
• In the first year the camp in the tribal area is held.
• In the second year, we hold 60 days fieldwork in NGOS govt. officer of companies. and 35 days of placement.
